Turn Off Your Lights at Night

Do you sleep late at nights? This is very common with people these days as people prefer to work late nights in order to complete their pending work. However, did you ever realize why you don't feel sleepy at night? Well, the answer is because of the lights that are on in your room. Many people these days prefer to keep their lights turned on even at night time because they love to work at night and that can lead to many changes inside our body. Some people are scared of darkness and therefore they prefer to keep lights turned on when they are asleep but this is certainly bad for your health.

As per the research done by experts working on human sleep it was found that people can certainly benefit if they sleep in dark. The researchers went ahead and tried some experiments with lab mice where 12 mice were kept under controlled environment where they would get 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness, while the other 12 were exposed to 13 hours of light and 11 hours of darkness. It was just a difference of one hour but there were some huge changes that happened in those mice. Eventually, it was concluded that those mice that received one hour of extra light had elevated their chances of getting cancer.

On further research, it was found that night light can have great impact on melatonin which helps in inducing wake sleep cycle inside us. If there is too much of light, or if the TV is on in the room or even a night lamp is turned on it can affect the melatonin inside our body and the result is that is breaks the sleep wake cycle to a great extent. These melatonin cells can also help us from various tumors and cancer cells which are life threatening. Hence, it has now been proved that night light can have great impact on our mind and body in the long run.
